Input lag is a term related specifically to how long a TV or other display takes to process and display an image on screen. PC display monitors have had low input lag for quite a few years now, but we’re seeing some of the latest TV’s close that gap drastically. Manufacturers such as Samsung, LG and Sony have greatly reduced input lag times on certain models with a clear consideration of the gamer in mind. Displays from recent years have included a game mode which will switch off any picture processing which is not required for gaming, allowing for the lowest input lag times the TV is capable of.

What are the benefits of low input lag?
A TV with low input lag will enable you to see output from your gaming console earlier. For example, an owner of a TV with low input lag of 10 ms will have an advantage over someone who’s TV’s input lag is 25ms. Where gamer’s often rely on reflexes to play the majority of games, those extra milliseconds will make a difference. Once your console has sent the output to your TV the image will be displayed on your screen quicker if you have a TV has a low input lag.
